Module 01 — Foundations
The Big Picture
Know what you do, what you are NOT, and what you're actually selling before you touch a phone.
Lesson 1.1
What We Do
We work with local service businesses — HVAC, Auto Repair, and similar industries. Our job is to help them win customers they're already losing.
We Help Them
Capture customers already searching
Improve credibility when searched
Stay competitive locally
Avoid missed opportunity
We Are NOT
An SEO retainer
A paid ads agency
A design firm
Marketing consultants
We strengthen their online presence so existing demand converts. That's the frame.
Lesson 1.2
What You're Actually Selling
This is the single most important mindset shift. Get this wrong and every call suffers.
You Are NOT Selling
Websites
Pages
Hosting
Design
Features
You ARE Selling
A 10-minute call
A visibility walkthrough
A chance to see what customers see
You are booking a meeting. Nothing more.
Scenario Drill
Handle the product question
Prospect Says
"So you build websites?"
Correct Response
"We'll cover that on the walkthrough — I just need 10 minutes to show what customers see first."→ Why it worksYou deflect product questions without lying. You stay on mission: book the meeting.
Module 02 — Foundations
Your Only Job
Clarity on your role is the foundation of discipline. One job. One outcome.
The Mission
Book Qualified Demos
That's it. Everything else is noise.
What You Never Do on a Cold Call
Sell the product
Close the deal
Debate objections at length
Over-explain what you do
Discuss features, pricing, or design
Definition
What Makes a Demo "Qualified"
Not every booked slot is a qualified demo. Know the difference before you log it.
Qualified Demo Checklist — All 4 Required
Decision-maker confirmed on the call
Acknowledges that online presence matters
Agrees to 10 minutes — time confirmed
Email collected
Scenario Drill
The info request deflection
Prospect Says
"Just send us some information."
Correct Response
"I can send something — I just want to make sure it's relevant. Does tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm work better?"→ Key PrincipleAlways attempt to book before ending the call. The "send info" request is a soft objection, not a hard no.
Module 03 — Foundations
Call Structure
Every call follows the same five-stage framework. No improvisation. No shortcuts.

Framework Rules
Each stage has specific language — use it
You may skip Gatekeeper if you reach the DM directly
Do not skip the Objection Pivot just because the prospect sounds interested
Never close without a confirmed time, email, and invite sent
Know exactly which stage you're in at every moment

Key Objective
Gatekeeper Opener
Module 04
Sound like you belong — get to the owner
Gatekeeper Control
Module 05
Handle pushback, get a callback time + name
Owner Opener
Module 06
Say the script, close with two times. Full stop.
Objection Handling
Module 07
Acknowledge, reframe, redirect to a time. One pivot max.
Lock the Appointment
Module 08
Confirm time, email, invite, expectation — all four.
Module 04 — The Call
The Gatekeeper Opener
The gatekeeper is not your enemy — they're a door. Your job is to sound like you already belong on the other side of it.
The Approved Opener — Word for Word
The Line
"Hey, I need to talk to the owner about something — are they currently in right now?"
Speak with certainty, not as a question. Short, vague, and direct — it forces the gatekeeper to either connect you or ask what it's about. Both are wins. Don't deviate from this line.
Why It Works
Breaking Down the Opener
Line-by-Line Breakdown
"Hey" — casual, confident. Not formal. You sound like someone who calls this owner regularly.
"I need to talk to the owner about something" — vague on purpose. The GK can't screen you out if they don't know what it's about. It sounds personal, not sales.
"Are they currently in right now?" — natural, conversational. "Currently in right now" makes it feel like you called at a specific time for a reason.
Scenario Drill
GK asks what it's about
Gatekeeper Says
"What's it about?"
Correct Response
"It's about how your business is showing up online — I need to walk the owner through what I found. Are they in?"→ Hold the frame. Don't explain further. If the owner isn't in: "No problem — what's the best time to catch them directly? And what was their name again?"
Critical: If the owner isn't available, always get two things before you hang up: (1) the best callback time, and (2) the owner's name. That callback becomes a warm dial — you open with their name.
Module 05 — The Call
Gatekeeper Control
Gatekeepers respond to confidence and brevity. The more you explain, the more control you give away.
The Rules — Non-Negotiable
Do NOT pitch the product to the gatekeeper
Do NOT explain what a website is or what you do
Do NOT get defensive or over-explain when pushed
Never argue — it signals you don't belong
Stay short — every response is 1–2 sentences max
Always loop back to: "Is the owner in?" or "What's the best time to reach them?"
Two hard blocks = hang up professionally, call back another time. Don't waste dials.
Gatekeeper Pushback Playbook
"What is this about?" / "What's it regarding?"
"It's about how your business is showing up online — I need to walk the owner through what I found. Are they in?"
Owner isn't in
"No problem — what's the best time to catch them directly? And what was their name again?"
→ Log both. Call back at that time using the owner's name as your opener.
"Can you send information?"
"It's not something that works over email — it's a quick walkthrough. When is the owner usually in?"
"We're not interested."
"Totally — the owner might feel differently once they see what I found. When's the best time to reach them directly?"
→ Pause. Hold. Do not fill the silence.
Scenario Drill
Hard block — owner not available
Gatekeeper Says
"He's not available and we're really not interested in anything like this."
Correct Response
"Totally — I just need 2 minutes with him to show him what I found specifically about this business. What's the best time to catch him directly?"→ Pause. Hold silence. If still blocked: "Appreciate it — I'll try back another time." Then hang up. Don't push further.
Module 06 — The Call
The Owner Opener
You're through to the decision-maker. Say the script. Close with the two times. Full stop — don't add anything.
The Owner Opener — Word for Word
The Script
"Hey [Name], my name is [Your Name] with Ruden Tech, I'll be quick. We looked at how [Business Name] shows up online in [City] — and you're losing customers to competitors right now who are easier to find. I want to have my engineer show you exactly where. Just a 10 minute call to walk you through. Does Tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm Work?"
That's it. Full stop. Do not explain what Ruden Tech is. Do not talk about features. Do not sell the product. The only goal is the 10-minute call.
Why This Works
Breaking Down the Owner Opener
Line-by-Line Breakdown
"I'll be quick" — immediately lowers resistance. You're not here to waste their time.
"We looked at how [Business Name] shows up online in [City]" — specific. This isn't a cold blast. You did actual work on their business.
"You're losing customers to competitors right now" — urgency. Present tense. It's happening now. Not "you could be."
"Who are easier to find" — frames competitors as the threat, not you as the seller.
"My engineer" — authority signal. This is a real review, not a sales pitch.
"Does Tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm Work?" — two specific options. Never "when are you free?" — you'll lose control of the calendar.
Scenario Drill
Owner picks up — deliver the opener
Situation
You've been connected directly to Mike, owner of City Auto Repair in Denver.
Correct Response
"Hey Mike, my name is [Your Name] with Ruden Tech, I'll be quick. We looked at how City Auto Repair shows up online in Denver — and you're losing customers to competitors right now who are easier to find. I want to have my engineer show you exactly where. Just a 10 minute call to walk you through. Does Tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm Work?"→ Then stop. Don't say another word.Silence is pressure on them, not you. Let them respond.
Module 07 — The Call
Objection Handling
Every objection gets one response. Acknowledge, reframe, redirect to the two times. If they say no twice — move on.
The Formula — Every Single Time
1. Acknowledge — don't argue, don't ignore
2. Reframe — one sentence, reposition the ask
3. Redirect — back to the two time options
Never spend more than 20 seconds on a single objection
Never pivot the same objection twice — if they repeat it, it's a no. Move on.
Objection Responses — Word for Word
"What is this about?"
"How your business shows up when customers search for you locally. 10 minutes. Does tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm work?"
"What did you find?"
"That's what the call is for — I want my engineer to walk you through it. Does tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm work?"
"Send me some information."
"It's a live walkthrough — it doesn't work over email. 10 minutes. Does tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm work?"
"Not interested."
"I'm not asking you to buy anything — just 10 minutes to show you what we found. If it's not relevant, you've lost nothing. Does tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm work?"
"We're busy / no time."
"I figured — that's exactly why I'm calling. If we can get you more leads with less effort, is it worth 10 minutes? Does next Tuesday at 10am or Wednesday at 2pm work instead?"
Notice the pattern: every response ends with a time option or a question that assumes they're booking. You never ask if — only when.
Scenario Drill
"Send me info"
Owner Says
"Just send me some info and I'll take a look."
Correct Response
"It's a live walkthrough — it doesn't work over email. 10 minutes. Does tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm work?"→ Hold the line. Don't offer to send anything.Email is a dead end. A "send me info" lead who never books is a lost lead. Always redirect to live time.
Scenario Drill
"Not interested"
Owner Says
"We're really not interested."
Correct Response
"I'm not asking you to buy anything — just 10 minutes to show you what we found. If it's not relevant, you've lost nothing. Does tomorrow at 10am or Thursday at 2pm work?"→ If they say no again —"No problem — I appreciate your time." Hang up. Mark as lost. Move on.
Module 08 — The Call
Locking the Appointment
They said yes. You're not done. A booked appointment isn't real until all four items are confirmed.
The Booking Checklist — All 4 Required
Confirmed time — specific day and hour, not "sometime this week"
Confirmed email address — spelled back to them out loud
Calendar invite sent before you move to the next dial
Expectation set — "It's a 10-minute call with my engineer. He'll show you exactly what we found."
If you hang up without all four — it's not a booked appointment. It's a maybe. Maybes don't show.
The Close Sequence
Step-by-Step After They Say Yes
Step
Action
Script / Note
1
Lock the time
"Perfect — I'll put you down for [Day] at [Time]."
2
Get the email
"Best email to send the invite to?"
3
Confirm spelling
Repeat it back out loud. "So that's J-O-H-N at…" Don't assume.
4
Set expectation
"It's a 10-minute call with my engineer — he'll walk you through exactly what we found."
5
Send invite immediately
Before you dial the next lead. No exceptions.
Scenario Drill
They say yes — now close it properly
Owner Says
"Yeah, Thursday at 2 works."
Correct Response
"Perfect — Thursday at 2pm, I've got you. Best email to send the invite to?"→ Get email, repeat it back, then —"It's a 10-minute call with my engineer, he'll show you exactly what we found on [Business Name]. Talk Thursday."
